You will find this beautiful home in a historic area of Copenhagen called kartoffelrækkerne [potato rows]. The area was built 130 years ago by the Workers' Building society to create affordable housing for poor families. A home like this would house 2 families of about 12 people on 3 floors. The
area was named kartoffelrækkerne not just because the houses were
"planted" in rows but as people were very poor all they could afford to
eat was potatoes. Needless to say, today kartoffelrækkerne is a very
desirable trendy neighbourhood where you will find gorgeous homes like
the one we see here.
