Shop of the week "Designer Zoo" Copenhagen

Designer Zoo is the brainchild of eight young Danish designers and is located on Vesterbrogade which is a very cool area in the middle of Copenhagen. The Zoo has got a definite creative wipe and is so much more than just a shop! It is the place I always check out whenever I'm in Copenhagen and I love browsing and soaking up the atmosphere. It effortlessly functions as a design gallery and houses eight workshops under the same roof. You are able to buy a very diverse selection of Danish design, craft and art products, created by the house's own designers but also work by 20 invited designers. I think the Designer Zoo is a dynamic exhibition space that reflects some of the best Danish designs today.

The Lovely Riiput Christmas Decorations

Yay! Very happy to see our unique Riiput Christmas decorations featured in the December issue of Elle Decorations. The Riiput is designed and made by the talented  Hanna Francis. Hanna was born in Sweden to a Finnish mother and English father and moved to England after spending her early childhood in Sweden. Hanna's fascination by nature combined with her Scandinavian heritage is evident not just in her designs but also her choice of materials. The the Riiput Christmas decorations,  KAJO lampshades as well as OKSA clothes hooks are all made from wood. Sustainability is important to  Hanna and she has taken great care in the design and development processes in order to achieve sustainable products.

"Oh So Fine" Shop of the week

On my travels online I often come across some amazing Scandi shops and this has prompted me to start  a weekly column dedicated to weird and wonderful Scandinavian shops.  This week I would like to introduce you to the newly opened  "Oh So Fine" Hope you'll like it too! The owner of  Oh So Fine  Mette Bonavent sells very unique limited edition handmade oak blocks with a pattern burned into the wood. As each piece is unique, not two products will look alike!  The blocks are handmade by Mette's  friends at the Copenhagen Joinery. The paper cuts are limited editions by Rosenberg Bogtryk and it is even possible to have them custom made for special occasion. Do check out the too! All illustrations are printed in Denmark using recycled paper and vegetable ink!
